History of the gravity drill

Gravity Drilling Technology was established as a continuation of a family enterprise based on trenchless technologies. The constant drive to limit the scope of excavation work and propose alternative solutions led to the emergence of the first ideas for devices and technologies aimed at using the potential of trenchless works in the 90s.

Trenchless technologies became more and more important year by year, as investors, municipal companies, construction companies and contractors noticed the high costs that had to be faced after the works were completed, in order to eliminate the effects of these works. As Poland developed and transformed, it was noticed that urban areas increasingly needed solutions that would replace traditional methods. Trenchless works were increasingly talked about. Pushing machines and horizontal drilling rigs began to do better on the market.

The new century brought even greater expectations and after 2000 more and more companies began to equip themselves with appropriate machines and devices. Among the offers of all the world's manufacturers of machines and technologies for trenchless construction of networks, there was no device that would allow for the construction of precise gravity sewage networks between existing sewage wells with typical dimensions of DN 1000 or DN 1200.

This market situation meant that TERMA, together with MIDO (a subsidiary company providing services in the field of network construction using trenchless technology), undertook to develop technology for the construction of underground, precise gravity sewage networks. The effect of these activities is the Gravity Drill and Gravity Drilling Technology. Cooperation between the machine manufacturer and their user has allowed for years to refine the technology to make it effective and reliable in the sometimes difficult and unpredictable conditions on the construction site. Using gravity drilling technology, tens of thousands of meters of sewage networks have already been constructed in recent years. Each completed construction contributed to subsequent modifications and improvements of the machine, so that it was possible to effectively perform increasingly complex works. The current state of the machine's design has already been refined to such an extent that the product has entered mass production and sale.
